1 out of 10 people on Earth is a Phantasma, a being that can resides in another plane of existence called 'Gaia'. These people are forcefully taken from Earth, and taken to Gaia. Depending on Phantasma genetics, they become;
Types of Phantasma
Human: human beings that can simply resides in Gaia, yet do not gains any magical abilities. They are one of the two species that have the most freedom, as they're free to reside in towns or cities. Some of them choose to join the Order, becoming templars. Their duty is to keep Gaia safe within their designated areas.
Witch: human beings with magical abilities. As magic is taboo in Gaia, they're forced to get education from a magic academy. After graduation, they must either join the Order as a Magic Knight, Magic Scribe, or seclude themselves in a tower if neither of those jobs interest them. Witches that refuse education or any choices after graduation are referred to as 'Strays', and templars are tasked to hunt them down. The reason magic is taboo is due to a well-known, but forbidden type of magic, referred to Blood Arts.
Elf: although human-like, their sharp, pointy ears and thinner builds are what separate them from human. They can have unnatural hair and eyes colors. They cannot grow muscles, so they always look petite. What also separate them from human is that all of them are capable of magic, and same rules with Witch apply to them. They are possibly the most adept race in terms of magical aptitude, yet.
Dwarf: the Dwarven folks used to be prestigious back then before an ancient war. Now those unfortunate enough to not have magic abilities serve as slaves to the human race. Those who do have magic experiences both racism (though not to the point of slavery) and restrictions that come with magic.
Fairy: the Fae folks are all capable of magic. Not only that, they have wings, too. Many fairies prefer to stay secluded in forest, as the Templars promise to not touch them. Those that grow near civilized areas often agree to attend an academy.
Harpy: most of these live in the sky, and are rarely seen. However, ones that are capable of magic are considered very respected by those on the surface. To the normal harpies, they're freaks or mutants. Magic-capable harpies are capable of changing their winged arms and talons into ordinary human limbs.
