“auto-runner platformer video game developed by Nintendo for mobile phones.”
”will be free-to-play, with additional in-app content to purchase.”
Remind me not to ever invest money in Nintendo as long as I’m alive. They don’t know what games are anymore.

Actually, they do. And the entire reason they're bringing their franchises to mobile is so they can appeal to an even larger audience (and potentially positively influence the sales of their own systems as a result). Do you know how many people have iPhones these days? "Yes?" How many? "A lot?" Good, now we've settled that.
IIRC; The in-app content is literally a one-time purchase that has the rest of the game, and that's it. The free version is a trial, if you will.

Doesn't change the fact they made a game with fewer features than the original. You know what that had?
CONTROL OF MOVEMENT.

i mean they could've just made an actually good mario game I don't mean to burst your bubble, but good Mario games don't take half a year to make. Not to mention I'm pretty sure they said the next real Mario game would stray from the standard, and it's very likely that it could be an NX launch title.

I'm pretty sure THREE PEOPLE could make a Mario game for a phone in half a year with ACTUAL CONTROLS. You don't need to redefine a genre, it's one of the first platformers. Ever. That LEFT direction is just too expensive for Nintendo's paperclip and scratch paper budget, I guess.

Of course, maybe I AM being unfair. After all, games like Pokemon and Mario have NEVER really worked on handheld systems, so it makes sense they had to dumb down the controls.

May as well have just PORTED THE ORIGINAL DAMN GAME. Oh, right, random bootleggers have already done that. And those are better because they have THE ALMIGHTY LEFT DIRECTION.

I just wanna iterate that phone controls have never been better than "less-than-desirable." A runner-type would obviously be easier to control than, say, a port of Mario World with images and functions of the controls laid over the screen on the sides of the phone. Nintendo is well-aware of this especially.

Nintendo is well-aware of this especially. As we know, most mobile developers have equal or greater resources than Nintendo, so its no wonder Nintendo didn't even try to include one of the most basic controls in video game history. Even PONG had two-direction, player-controlled movement! THIS GAME IS WORSE THAN PONG.

Alright, well, I guess that's what you believe. I'll quit wasting my time explaining my points.
