Hoo boy, the product of two months' time. Since @ivy is threatening me with specific parts of my old wife, I'll have to hold off on my Fallout 4 review. Here we go!
STORY: Despite having only like 4 games in its series made since 2008 (main games, mind you), BlazBlue's lore is quite expansive and worth looking into. The games' stories don't suffer from bad story like other fighting games; they're actually really good! I mean yes, it suffers from the "hey are you looking for the all powerful thing oh wait you're bad according to my values and here we stand at a standoff lets a fight" cliche, but who cares? It's a fighting game. The biggest issue is the writing, and I don't mean it's bad writing or anything. The way the lore and plot are presented to the player is confusing; I myself didn't really understand what was happening until I opened up a specific Wikia page for the situation then I went "OH". If you're a human being, you might want to get the BlazBlue wiki right next to you while you play Story Mode. There are a number of branching storylines depending on some choices that come up on occasion, and most will give you a "Bad Ending". There's no indication of how your choices will end up, so it can be pure trial and error whether or not you beat a character's story thing. Rating: 9.5/10
GAMEPLAY: What can I say? It's a really nice control scheme, great mechanics, balance for the most part, and each character actually feels unique. Online play can be horrific with the game's shabby netplay, though. Rating: 10/10
CHARACTERS: A wide variety of characters that tie into the lore, and they're not generic anime characters for the most part! Voice acting in this game is pretty dang sweet for even the English dub, so I haven't ever bothered listening to the Japanese voice cast. The VAs deliver the characters their English-ized personalities seamlessly. There is one specific character that's really not that important and is there for pure comic relief, but whatever. Taokaka is a dumb. Rating: 10/10
MUSIC: Look up "Gluttony Fang", "Rebellion", "Nightmare Fiction", "Lust SIN", or "Shinsou" and tell me it doesn't deserve this rating. Rating: 10/10
VISUALS: It's from Japan. It looks like an anime, and it feels like one, too. A good one at that. ignores Alter Memory
Speaking of which, don't swap this game for Alter Memory. It isn't that good. Some in-game cutscenes have moments of "QUALITY" to them, but it's not as horrific as you'd think. People that don't like anime or the look of it will probably get turned off by the style. Rating: 9.5/10
FANDOM?: BlazBlue has a loyal following, but it's not too big. In fact, I'd never heard of BlazBlue until I saw a Minecraft Hardcore series in which PeanutButterGamer's brother had a Hazama skin (woo PBG). Then Ivy brings it up, and things happened. I've seen most of the fandom on Tumblr and YouTube; I wouldn't know anymore places with concentrations of BlazBlue fans EXCEPT for EVO. This is a good choice for those of you not into "annoying" or "popular" fandoms! Rating: 9/10
FINAL VERDICT: I've never considered myself a fighting game sort of person, but BlazBlue is one that I can handle decently well without just going "screw it" then quitting. It fetches a somewhat steep price on Steam of $29.99, but the Xbox 360 version I have costed only about $10 to $15. Whichever works best for you, I guess! It'll keep you busy for quite some time if you've nothing to play, so I'm recommending it to anyone who's interested in what this game has to offer and stuff!
FINAL RATING: With fandom: 9.7 XXX Dividers out of 10 Ragna Harems!
Without fandom: 9.8 Waifus out of 10 Husbandoes! Kokonoe and Makoto are the best.
